Project Background

Sourcing venue internet can be challenging for production crews and event organizers. This is especially true in smaller venues hosted in historical buildings made of solid steel and concrete. For this project, NEXM Creative Media used VenueLink, a sub-brand of Copano Media Group to provide a reliable internet solution for its live stream of Techstars Demo Day event at the ISIS Theater in Fort Worth, Texas.

A split-screen image shows a live broadcast setup featuring a man named Patrick Brown, Vice President Operations at Methodist Health System, Charlton Medical Center.
A computer screen displays video editing software in action. The editing interface shows a man speaking into a microphone on two preview panels. Various controls, and buttons are visible, with "Trey Bowles" identified

Project Timeline & Requirements

The client's requirements for the project were simple but greatly important for a successful stream. Requirement one, provide an internet connection with at least 15Mbps of upload and download bandwidth for a one-day event. Requirement two, provide 24/7 technical support plus a hardline internet connection deployment. Lastly, requirement three, provide all users with 5G network bonding for redundancy and fast throughput.

Project Outcome

Even though the ISIS Theater has internet connectivity, the bandwidth capacity and traffic management were nowhere near the requirements to support a reliable high-definition live stream plus in-house Wi-Fi for crew members. VenueLink was able to overcome this challenge by providing its client with 25Mbps of upload and 60Mbps download bandwidth. Overall the networking performance provided by VenueLink allowed Techstars to broadcast their event to hundreds of viewers unable to physically attend.
